Every CUBEES pack comes in two editions, with the same Cubees and the same models:
- Cubees Rework Edition: the full CUBEES, where MythicMobs and ModelEngine run the Cubees themselves. Two Cubees out at once (a Main and a Duo), Combos, and two-on-two Cu-Battles.
- McPets Edition: for a server that runs its pets with the MCPets plugin. Every Cubee is an MCPets pet. MCPets summons it and levels it up, and a player has one Cubee out at a time.
The rest of this wiki describes the Rework edition. This page covers what the McPets edition does differently; anything it does not name works the same in both.
Which edition to choose
- Choose the Cubees Rework Edition if you want two Cubees at once, Combos and two-on-two Cu-Battles.
- Choose the McPets Edition if your server already runs MCPets and you want your Cubees to be MCPets pets.
Use one edition for the whole server, for every pack. Never install a pack's Rework edition next to the McPets Base System, or the other way round.
Both editions have every Cubee with its ability and Cubit, the Cubee menu (name, Cubit, behaviour, Cube, habitat and badges), habitats that earn CuCoins, quests, the shop, snacks, Cubes, Cubiks, behaviour modes and allies.
Installing it
The McPets edition needs everything listed in Installation, plus MCPets 4.1.6+.
- Install the plugins and MCPets. Start the server once, then stop it.
- Open the Base System pack, its
McPets – Editionfolder, and the one Compatibility folder for your item plugin:Nexo Compatibility,ItemsAdder CompatibilityorCraftEngine Compatibility. Copy everything inside it into your server'splugins/folder. - Do the same for every other pack you want, always from its
McPets – Editionfolder. For the Habitats, Cubiks, Elemental Cubes and Cuboss Cubes packs, the files are the same in both editions. - In MCPets' own
config.yml, setLeftClickToOpenMenutofalse; MCPets writestrue. While it is on, MCPets opens its pet menu when an owner or an operator left-clicks a pet. CUBEES closes it again after a plain hit on a Cubee, but a sword's sweep slips past. - Check your item plugin's settings and start the server, as Installation describes.
Each collection pack adds two things for MCPets:
plugins/MCPets/Pets/CUBEES Rework <Collection>/: one pet file per Cubee,cubee-<id>.yml, with its ten levels: the EXP each level needs and the Cubee's health at each.plugins/MCPets/Categories/cubees-rework-<collection>.yml: the collection's category in/mcpets, such as Starter Cubees.
Coming from the old Cubees pets? Follow Updating from Older Versions first. Its clean-up removes the old Cubee ... pet folders and cubee-category-*.yml files, and never these new ones.
What players notice
- Summoning. Left-click a Cubee you own in the Cubees List, or pick it in
/mcpets. One Cubee is out at a time, and summoning another sends the first one home. The usual rules hold both ways,/mcpetsincluded: no summoning during a Cu-Battle or where Cubees can't be summoned, and not a Cubee that is switched off, still recovering, already out or living in a habitat. A Cubee summoned against them is sent home with the reason. - Recalling. Use the Summon, Recall and Cu-Battle button in the Cubees List, the Recall button in the Cubee's own menu, or
/mcpets. - The Cubee menu. Right-clicking your Cubee opens the Cubee menu in place of MCPets' pet menu. Other MCPets pets keep their own menu.
- No Combos. The Combos tile in
/cubeesis greyed out, and/cucomboanswers that combos pair two Cubees. - Levels instead of vitality. A Cubee levels up from 1 to 10 through MCPets. A higher level means more health, more damage and a shorter wait between abilities. The card shows the level and the EXP to the next one, and the Cubit button names the level a Cubit needs: level 2 or higher by default. MCPets announces each new level in chat.
- Snacks. Feeding works as described in Snacks, but the EXP goes to the MCPets level. By default only snacks give EXP, and level 10 takes 1,000 EXP in all. A hated snack takes EXP away, but never a level.
- Boosters and Helpers help you. With one Cubee out, a Booster that helped your other Cubee helps you instead: the Good Cubee, for example, heals you when you are hurt in a fight. Each card says what its Cubee does in this edition.
- Cu-Battles are one on one, and only Fighters battle. Hold your Fighter's Cubit and left-click another player's Fighter. No Cubee can be summoned until the battle ends, and sending yours home ends it as a loss. Otherwise Cu-Battle applies.
- Habitats work as in the Rework edition, and an Inhabitant earns more CuCoins the higher its level. Snacks fed to it there raise its level and its earnings at once. MCPets only gives EXP to a pet that is out, so the EXP lands the next time the Cubee comes out.
- Badges. The Vitality badge is called Power: the highest power the Cubee has reached, which rises with its level. Only Fighters earn Valour.
- Quests. Battle quests are one on one, and quests that asked for vitality ask for power.
For admins
- Owning a Cubee.
cubee.pet.use.cubee-<id>is both the CUBEES ownership node and the MCPets pet permission./cubee_give, the shop, quest rewards and Cubiks grant it, so an owned Cubee shows in/mcpetstoo. - Old owners. A player who holds only the old
mcpet.cubee-<id>summons that Cubee from the Cubees List while its Allow MCPets Permission setting is on, but/mcpetslists a Cubee only for the new node. See Updating from Older Versions. - Levels and health live in MCPets. Each Cubee's health and EXP per level are in its pet file. In CUBEES Settings, Health, Health-Scale and EXP-Maximum change nothing here, and every setting that does nothing in this edition carries a red line saying so. Where the Rework edition reads vitality, this edition reads power: a number from 0 to 100 that the pet file sets for each level, by default about 11 per level and 100 at level 10.
- Respawning. The Cubee's Respawn-Cooldown setting is its only wait after a fall. Keep the pet files'
Cooldownsat 0. An MCPets cooldown makes a Cubee wait twice, refuses a paid instant recovery, and can stop a Cu-Battle winner from coming back. - Commands.
/cubee_exp_give,/cubee_exp_give_percent,/cubee_equipand/cucombo_openforanswer that this edition has no such thing; to summon a Cubee for a player, use/mcpets spawn./cubee_cooldown_resetwith no argument clears the Cubee you have out, and/cubit_getgives its Cubit./cubees helplists/mcpetsand leaves the others out. See Commands & Permissions. - Test as a player. Operators pass every CUBEES check, and an operator's left-click opens MCPets' menu on anyone's pet. Test on an account that is not an operator.
- Backups. MCPets keeps each Cubee's level, EXP and health in its own data. Back it up together with the files in Data, Backups & Variables.
- Switching editions. Each edition keeps its own progress. MCPets levels never turn into Rework vitality, and vitality never turns into MCPets levels.
Not in this edition
- The Duo slot, Combos, and the ability changes a combo brings.
- Two-on-two Cu-Battles. Boosters and Helpers never Cu-Battle.
- The EXP commands and forced equipping.
- The item plugin's icons in
/mcpets: MCPets shows each Cubee as golden horse armour with its name.
