Feeding a Cubee

Hold a snack and right-click one of your own Cubees. It eats one snack and stops for a moment. When the snack counts, a title shows its new vitality with the change in brackets.

Every snack is food for every Cubee. What changes is how that Cubee feels about it. By default:

  • Its favourite (the "loves" line on its card): +5 EXP, every time.
  • Its disliked snack (the "hates" line): it loses a little EXP, every time.
  • Any other snack: +2 EXP, but only about one snack in three counts.

By default a Cubee needs 1,000 EXP to reach 100% vitality, so a favourite snack is worth 0.5% vitality and an ordinary one 0.2%. Vitality never drops below 0% or rises above 100%. On a server running the McPets edition, the EXP raises the Cubee's level instead; see McPets Edition.

Every snack you feed counts toward that Cubee's Appetite badge (see Badges) and toward quests that ask for snacks (see Quests).

Loves and hates

Each Cubee loves exactly one snack and hates exactly one, and the two are never the same snack. Its card in the game shows both as pictures under SNACKS, on the "loves" and "hates" lines. Each Cubee's own favourite is also on its Catalogue page.

Which Cubee loves or hates which snack is on its card and its Catalogue page. A server can change both for any Cubee, so check the Cubee rather than a list.

Getting snacks

  • The Shop, in the Items category. The ready-made item set sells each of the 30 snacks in packs of 8.
  • Quest rewards. The ready-made quests pay out snacks.
  • Some Cubees. The Gift Box Cubee's daily gift can be a snack, and the Villager Cubee's Cubit opens a stall that sells one.

What your server actually stocks is up to its staff. See The Shop and Quests.

For server owners

  • Each Cubee's feeding settings are in its collection pack's placeholders.yml, and in CUBEES Settings under Cubees one by one, then the Cubee, then the Growth & Food tab:
    • Cubee-<id>-Feed-Exp_Receive: 2 (any other snack)
    • Cubee-<id>-Feed-Favorite-Exp_Receive: 5
    • Cubee-<id>-Feed-Yucky-Exp_Receive: -5
    • Cubee-<id>-Feed-Favorite-Food and Cubee-<id>-Feed-Yucky-Food: item ids such as cubee_food-divine_donut
    • Cubee-<id>-EXP-Maximum: 1000
  • The list of feedable snacks is Cubees-Snack-List in FEA_CUBEES-Snacks/placeholders.yml, also in CUBEES Settings under Quests, Rewards & Snacks. Removing an id stops that snack being food. A new snack also needs its item and its glyph.
  • The one-in-three chance for ordinary snacks is part of the feeding skill, not a setting.
  • The loves and hates pictures are written into each Cubee's card. If you change a Cubee's favourite or disliked snack, feeding follows the new setting, but the card keeps showing the old snacks.
