Cubees

Wiki/Getting Started/Installation

Installation

The plugins CUBEES needs, the two editions, where the files go, how to install the packs, and the first setup on a fresh server.

CUBEES is not a plugin jar. It is content for other plugins: MythicMobs packs, ModelEngine models, and the icons, glyphs, textures and sounds that your item plugin (Nexo, ItemsAdder or CraftEngine) turns into a resource pack. Install the plugins first, then copy the packs in.

Each version below is the one CUBEES is tested on, on the reference server (Paper 26.1.2, on Java 25). A "+" means that version or newer.

Required plugins

  • MythicMobs Premium 5.13.0+. Every Cubee, menu, command and system in CUBEES is MythicMobs content. The free build is not enough: the packs open custom menus and use maths and variables in numeric values, and MythicMobs keeps both for Premium.
  • ModelEngine R4.1.0+. Every Cubee is a ModelEngine model, and so are the habitats, the Cubiks and several effects.
  • One item plugin: Nexo 1.25.1+, ItemsAdder 4.0.17+ or CraftEngine 26.9+. It holds the icons, menu backgrounds, glyphs, item models and sounds, and builds the resource pack. Every pack has a copy for each. ItemsAdder also needs ItemsAdderAdditions 1.0.11+.
  • PlaceholderAPI 2.11.7+. Menus, item lore and chat lines show their icons through placeholders: %nexo_...% on Nexo, %img_...% on ItemsAdder and %image_raw_cubees:...% on CraftEngine.
  • LuckPerms 5.5.81+. The packs grant and remove permission nodes by running lp user <player> permission set ... from the console. That is how a player receives a Cubee from /cubee_give, the shop, a quest or a Cubik, and how a habitat plot permit is granted.
  • For the McPets edition only: MCPets 4.1.6+. It summons and levels the Cubees. See McPets Edition.

Optional: WorldGuard 7.0.18+ (with WorldEdit or FastAsyncWorldEdit). It is used only by two rules in FEA_CUBEES-Library/placeholders.yml: Cubee-Summon-ForbiddenRegions and Cubee-CastAbility-ForbiddenRegions. The second is spawn by default, so no Cubee uses its ability in a region whose id is spawn; set it to none to turn that off, then restart the server. Without WorldGuard both rules are ignored.

Two editions

Every pack comes in two editions, each in its own folder:

  • Cubees Rework – Edition: the full CUBEES, with two Cubees out at once, Combos, Cu-Battles and habitats. The rest of this wiki describes this edition.
  • McPets – Edition: for a server that runs its pets with MCPets, which summons and levels each Cubee, one out at a time. See McPets Edition.

Use the same edition for every pack on a server, never both. Inside each edition there is one folder per item plugin: Nexo Compatibility, ItemsAdder Compatibility and CraftEngine Compatibility. Use the one that matches your item plugin, and never copy more than one of them onto a server.

The packs

The Base System is the heart of CUBEES, and every server needs it: the /cubees hub, the Cubees List, Combos, the shop, quests, badges, snacks, Cubes, the CuCoin and CuCrystal currencies, habitats with the Grassland design, and CUBEES Settings. On top of it you add:

  • the collection packs, one per collection of Cubees;
  • Habitats 1 to 4, with more habitat designs;
  • Elemental Cubes and Cuboss Cubes, with more Cubes;
  • Cubiks, reward blocks you design and place in the world.

A few Anime Saga and Oni Slayer combos pair Cubees from two packs of the same saga; such a combo needs both packs.

Where each part goes

Inside each Compatibility folder are plugin folders that mirror your server's plugins/ folder. Their files land only here:

  • plugins/MythicMobs/packs/: FEA_CUBEES-* holds the systems (menus, quests, the shop, habitats, snacks, Cubes, Cubiks, presets), and CUBEES-RE-<Collection> holds one collection of Cubees.
  • plugins/ModelEngine/blueprints/Cubees-rework/: the Cubee models (Cubees/) and the habitats, Cubiks and effects (CubeesFeatures/).
  • Nexo: plugins/Nexo/items/cubees/, plugins/Nexo/items/cubees-features/, plugins/Nexo/glyphs/cubees-gui/, plugins/Nexo/glyphs/cubees-icons/, and the Cubees folders in plugins/Nexo/pack/assets/.
  • ItemsAdder: plugins/ItemsAdder/contents/cubees/.
  • CraftEngine: plugins/CraftEngine/resources/cubees/.
  • McPets edition only: plugins/MCPets/Pets/ and plugins/MCPets/Categories/.

The packs hold no saved data. Progress, quests, the shop, Cubiks and CUBEES Settings values are saved in plugins/MythicMobs/data/, and placed habitats and Cubik spawners in plugins/MythicMobs/spawners/. See Data, Backups & Variables.

Installing the packs

  1. Install the plugins above. Start the server once so they create their folders, then stop it.
  2. Open the Base System pack, its edition folder, and the Compatibility folder for your item plugin. Copy everything inside that folder into your server's plugins/ folder, keeping the structure. Only CUBEES folders are added; nothing of yours is replaced.
  3. Do the same with every other pack you want, from the same edition and the same Compatibility folder. Where two packs carry the same file, the copies are identical, so the order does not matter.
  4. Check your item plugin:
    • Nexo: in plugins/Nexo/settings.yml, Pack > import > model_engine must be true. That is how the Cubee models get into Nexo's resource pack.
    • ItemsAdder: in plugins/ItemsAdder/config.yml, the list merge_other_plugins_resourcepacks_folders must hold ModelEngine/resource pack and ItemsAdderAdditions/resourcepack.
    • CraftEngine: in plugins/CraftEngine/config.yml, resource-pack > merge-external-folders must list ModelEngine/resource pack, and network > intercept-packets must have container, item, title, actionbar, system-chat and bossbar on. Both are the defaults.
  5. Start the server. Nexo builds the resource pack by itself once ModelEngine has loaded the models. On ItemsAdder, run /iazip; on CraftEngine, run /ce reload all.
  6. Join, accept the resource pack, and type /cubees. The Cubees menu opens on its own background.

Restart, don't reload. After you install, update or edit CUBEES files, restart the server. A /mm reload can leave old skills running until the next restart, and a half-reloaded pack looks exactly like a bug.

If your server runs an older Cubees, follow Updating from Older Versions first.

Adding a collection later

The Base System already holds every Cubee on the Cubees List, the ones still to come included. To add a collection, copy its pack in the same way, keep the Base System you have, and restart the server. Update the Base System only when a release says it changed; see Updating from Older Versions.

A Cubee whose collection is not installed still has its tile in the Cubees List, but a right-click says "This Cubee's collection is not installed on this server." and it cannot be summoned.

First setup

Run the CUBEES commands in game; they do nothing from the console.

  • Staff permissions. No command is gated on operator status. Grant permission nodes with LuckPerms, for example lp user <name> permission set cubees.admin true. Operators pass every check, including owning every Cubee, so test what players see on an account that is not an operator. The full list is in Commands & Permissions.
  • Quests. /cuquest_seed daily 1 loads 36 Daily quests and /cuquest_seed ch1 1 loads Story chapter 1 (daily_th and ch1_th are the Thai copies). After you edit a Daily quest, press Rebuild Daily Index.
  • Shop. /cushop_seed items 1 adds the 30 snacks and the coin withdrawals, and /cushop_seed habitats 1 the plot permits and design licences. The Cubees and Cubiks categories start empty: fill them from /cushop_create. For a Habitats pack you did not install, turn off its licences' Can Be Bought.
  • Cubiks (Cubiks pack only). Load a ready-made Cubik with /cubik_import <slot> <preset>, place it with /cubik_place <slot> and sell its key in the shop.
  • A player's first Cubee. A new player owns none. Owning one means holding cubee.pet.use.cubee-<id>: give it with /cubee_give, a shop product, a quest reward (the last quest of Story chapter 1 gives the Plains Cubee), a Cubik, or for everyone with lp group default permission set cubee.pet.use.cubee-good true.
  • Habitats. Grassland comes with the Base System, the other designs with Habitats 1 to 4. A player needs a licence for the design and a permit for the plot (cubees.habitat.create.<N>, plots 1 to 25), and a habitat only goes where its owner may place a block.
  • CUBEES Settings. Open /cubees admin and check the Rules & Messages page (the forbidden worlds and regions), Cubees-Invincible (off by default) and Cubees-Daily-Reset-Interval (86400 seconds by default). Values you set there survive updates. See Admin Menu.

Players open everything from /cubees; /cushop, /cuquest and /cucombo go straight to the shop, the quests and the Combos screen. In the McPets edition there is no Combos screen, and /mcpets summons and recalls the Cubee too. Point new players to Your First Cubee.
