Cubees

Wiki/Owner Guide/Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

Real problems owners meet with the Cubees packs, what causes each one and how to fix it.

Each entry names what you see, the cause and the fix. For every command and node, see Commands & Permissions.

Server and files

A change does not show after /mm reload

  • Cause: /mm reload reloads only the MythicMobs packs, not the models or the resource pack, and it can leave old skills running until the next restart. A Cubee that was already out also keeps the values and Cubit behaviour it was called out with.
  • Fix: restart the server after you install, update or edit CUBEES files, then call your Cubees back out. See Installation.

A value set in CUBEES Settings changes nothing

  • Cause: some values are read only when the files load, and their buttons say "Set it in placeholders.yml, then restart." Values such as health apply the next time a Cubee is summoned, so Cubees already out keep their numbers. An Inhabitant reads its habitat earnings when it loads, so a change reaches a placed Inhabitant after a restart, or when its area loads again.
  • Fix: for a load-time value, edit the key in the pack's placeholders.yml and restart the server. Otherwise, summon the Cubee again. See Admin Menu.
  • Cause: a potion level printed on a card, such as Speed III, is written in when the pack is built.
  • Fix: nothing is wrong: changing that value changes the effect, not the card.

A Cubee casts with no animation, or the animation plays and nothing lands

  • Cause: its model lacks the animation that ability plays, or the keyframes inside it. Many abilities fire their sound, hits and shots from keyframes in the animation. This happens after a model is edited in Blockbench, or when an older copy of the model is still installed.
  • Fix: copy the model file back from the pack, under plugins/ModelEngine/blueprints/Cubees-rework/, then restart the server. When you edit a model, keep its animations and their keyframes.

"This Cubee's collection is not installed on this server."

  • Cause: the Base System lists every Cubee on the Cubees List, the ones still to come included. That Cubee's collection pack is not on your server, so it has no card, no settings page, and cannot be summoned.
  • Fix: install that collection's pack and restart. The Base System needs no update. See Updating from Older Versions.

Icons and text

An icon in your own text shows the wrong colour

Seen on ItemsAdder, in quest lore, reward lore or shop text you wrote.

  • Cause: an icon takes the colour code written before it, so a &7 in front turns it grey.
  • Fix: put &f right before the icon and your colour back after it, as in &7Earn 50 &f%img_cubees-coin%&7 today. The packs' own text does this on every build.

An icon prints as text, such as %nexo_cubees-coin%

  • Cause: a literal % right before it, as in +10%&f%nexo_cubees-coin%, pairs with the icon's opening %.
  • Fix: put a space between them: +10% &f%nexo_cubees-coin%.
  • Cause: text copied from another build. Nexo writes %nexo_cubees-coin%, ItemsAdder %img_cubees-coin% and CraftEngine %image_raw_cubees:cubees-coin%.
  • Fix: use your build's form.

Menus show plain game items instead of Cubee art

  • Cause: that player's game has not loaded the server resource pack, because they declined it or the download failed.
  • Fix: have them accept the pack and rejoin.

Cubees

"... is still recovering! (ready in ...)" when summoning

  • Cause: that Cubee fell recently. It waits its Respawn Cooldown, Cubee-<id>-Respawn-Cooldown, 30 seconds by default for every Cubee.
  • Fix: wait, or click Recover Now in the Combos menu. It wakes the selected combo's Main and Duo for Cubees-Respawn-InstantRecover-Cost CuCoins, 1000 by default. Change the cooldown per Cubee in CUBEES Settings.

A Cubee's hits do nothing to some targets

  • Cause: the packs refuse hits on allies, and each behaviour mode limits what a Cubee may hurt. See What is Cubee?
  • Fix: to see why, switch on Hits in CUBEES Settings, Rules & Messages (Cubees-Debug-Hits). Owners then read in chat every hit their Cubees land or have refused. Switch it off afterwards.

A habitat pays only 1 CuCoin per collect

With "Invalid math operation on PlaceholderFloat" and Habitat-CuCoins-Producing-Amount in the console.

  • Cause: Base System files from release 1.2 or earlier.
  • Fix: update the Base System files that Updating from Older Versions lists, then restart. Placed Inhabitants are put right when they next load.

Quests and shop

An editor closed and nothing was saved

  • Cause: each chat prompt waits 60 seconds, then the editor reopens without the change.
  • Fix: click the button again and type only the value.

The Daily board shows [none], or a new Daily never appears

  • Cause: only Dailies with Can be accepted set to true are drawn, and each player's four Dailies are drawn once a day.
  • Fix: switch the quest on, then press Rebuild Daily Index and check its counts. The quest reaches each player at their next draw, after the day resets or when they redraw. See Admin Menu.

A shop tile shows another product, or stays empty

  • Cause: two products in one category share an icon (products without an icon share the coin), or a product names an icon the shop cannot draw.
  • Fix: give every product in the category its own icon from the picker. See Admin Menu.

"This product cannot be purchased."

  • Cause: Can Be Bought is still off, which is where every new product starts, or the buyer lacks the product's Permission node.
  • Fix: switch Can Be Bought on, and set Permission to none or grant the node.

A bought or rewarded Cubee does not unlock

  • Cause: CUBEE products and rewards grant cubee.pet.use.cubee-<id> by running LuckPerms' lp command from the console. Without LuckPerms nothing is granted, and a shop buyer still pays.
  • Fix: install LuckPerms, or grant the node by hand. /cubee_give <player> followed by Tab lists every Cubee of the current release. A Cubee from a collection you have not installed is granted, but cannot be summoned until its pack is in.

McPets edition

MCPets' pet menu opens when a player hits their Cubee

  • Cause: MCPets' LeftClickToOpenMenu is true, as MCPets writes it. CUBEES closes the menu after a plain hit, but a sword's sweep slips past.
  • Fix: set LeftClickToOpenMenu to false in MCPets' own config.yml. Right-clicking a Cubee opens the Cubee menu either way.

A Cubee the player owns is missing from /mcpets

  • Cause: /mcpets lists a Cubee only for cubee.pet.use.cubee-<id>. A player who holds only the old mcpet.cubee-<id> can still summon it from the Cubees List.
  • Fix: grant the new node, for example with /cubee_give.

A Cubee waits twice after a fall, or a Cu-Battle winner never comes back

  • Cause: a cooldown set in the Cubee's MCPets pet file. The Cubee's Respawn-Cooldown setting is meant to be its only wait.
  • Fix: keep Cooldowns (Respawn and Revoke) at 0 on every level in its pet file, then restart. See McPets Edition.

Regions and WorldGuard

"Cubee abilities can't be used here." at spawn

  • Cause: by default Cubee-CastAbility-ForbiddenRegions is spawn. On a server with WorldGuard, abilities are blocked inside a region named spawn.
  • Fix: edit the list in FEA_CUBEES-Library/placeholders.yml, where none switches it off, and restart the server. Region lists are read when the files load, so CUBEES Settings cannot change them.

Region rules do nothing

  • Cause: WorldGuard is not installed. Without it the packs ignore Cubee-Summon-ForbiddenRegions and Cubee-CastAbility-ForbiddenRegions on purpose, rather than blocking everything. A quest's REGION condition always passes.
  • Fix: install WorldGuard for region rules. The world rules, Cubee-Summon-ForbiddenWorlds and Cubee-CastAbility-ForbiddenWorlds, work without it and can be changed live in CUBEES Settings, Rules & Messages.

Log noise and permissions

The console shows many "Missing hitbox" warnings at startup

  • Cause: ModelEngine warns about each model without a hitbox bone, and many Cubee models have none.
  • Fix: nothing. Those Cubees work normally.

"this.metaskill is null" in the console, and a menu click did nothing

  • Cause: older menus lose a click made in a menu's first second.
  • Fix: update the Base System (every menu file changed in 1.3) and the collection packs.

"Failed to process VariableIsSet condition." while an owner fights

  • Cause: files from before the current release.
  • Fix: update the Base System and the collection packs.

An admin command or hub tile does nothing

  • Cause: the player lacks its node. Every admin command checks one, for example cubees.admin.quest for the quest editors. Ops pass.
  • Fix: grant the node. /cubees help lists each command under its node, for the nodes the reader holds.
